From the age of the Liner. At this time there were no air services to Hong Kong. This was another year away. The uppermost liner is moored close to where the Hong Kong-China Ferry Terminal is today. IDJ

Central District circa 1935. The Bank looks very new. Quite large cargo ships are moored close to the General Post Office indicating how much depth of water there was to be eventually be filled in to build up the land we walk over today. With many similar images from over the decades it should be possible to build up a sequence or montage, perhaps morphing images from the earliest to the present. IDJ

Does anyone recognise this?

It's a very wide road, maybe Nathan Road?

The building on the far left is a distinctive design, different from the other shophouses we can see.

And the building we can see across the junction has an unusual shallow dome on the roof, which might trigger someone's memory?

A good view over the fishing fleet in the harbour towards the seminary in the background. The Aberdeen police staion is up on the hillside to the left of the photo.

1930s Junction of Wanchai & Johnston Roads

The photographer is looking north along Wanchai Road to the junction with Flemin & Johnston Roads. The tram on the right is on the section of Johnston Road between Fleming & Stewart Roads. Upper right we can see a pawn shop sign, probably belonging to #91 Wanchai Road which is still a pawn shop - and still the same building that was standing when this photo was taken!
