Lap Sap Chung & the Connaught Centre

Image (external):

Probably scanned from a Hong Kong yearbook. Caption:

By late 1973, the 52-storey Connaught Centre will be one of Asia's tallest buildings. It is shown here two-thirds complete, towering above 'Lap Sap Chung' the litterbug who despondently surveys a spotlessly clean Statue Square.

1930s Prince Edward Road, near Kowloon City

[UPDATE Dec 2018: The location has been identified in the comments below.]

Does anyone recognise this?

It's a very wide road, maybe Nathan Road?

The building on the far left is a distinctive design, different from the other shophouses we can see.

And the building we can see across the junction has an unusual shallow dome on the roof, which might trigger someone's memory?

Likely the photo was taken after WWII. Looks like a Comet tank on the flat-bed wagon.

At least I think that's what it is. Any other suggestions?

A good view over the fishing fleet in the harbour towards the seminary in the background. The Aberdeen police staion is up on the hillside to the left of the photo.

Looking north along Jubilee Street.

The soon-to-be-demolished Central market is on the right, and the fire station is just visible top-right.

1930s Junction of Wanchai & Johnston Roads

Image (external):

The photographer is looking north along Wanchai Road to the junction with Flemin & Johnston Roads. The tram on the right is on the section of Johnston Road between Fleming & Stewart Roads. Upper right we can see a pawn shop sign, probably belonging to #91 Wanchai Road which is still a pawn shop - and still the same building that was standing when this photo was taken!

On the Flickr page, commenter 'tommybegood' identifies the location as:

Intersection between Kimberly Road & Carnarvon Road.

So that should be Kimberley road running left-right, and Carnarvon road sloping down and away in front of the viewer.
