Kowloon air view TST 1927-28

On Flickr the date given is 1934.

I'm quite sure that the date is 1927 or early 1928. Peninsula Hotel was finished in 1927, and the tower on Signal Hill received a coupola in the second quarter of 1928 - it's not on the photo.

Took this photo from my room at the Panorama Hotel (8A,Hart Ave.).

Early Sunday morning. I think domestic helpers, probably from the Philippines, are holding a Christian mass on Signal Hill.

At the upper part of the photo, the former saluting battery can be seen with concrete supports for the guns.

Chatham and Cameron Roads 1947

Cropped from Hong Kong-Kowloon-East TST & Chatham Road

Shows Chatham and Cameron Roads in north-westerly direction. The houses Dilkusha and the one on K.I.L 537 are still there. South of Cameron Road is an undeveloped space where in the 1920s RAF temporary quarters were located. Possibly the K.I.L's 517 and 518 (and maybe 524) were owned by the RAF or other military organizations that were not sold to private persons before the end of WW II.

Jordan Road Piers

From Wikimedia Commons.

This aerial photograph shows Ferry Point Estate under construction, the Jordan Road Vehicular Ferry Pier and the Jordan Road Temporary Vehicular Ferry Pier. From around 1964.

The photo shows the high demand for vehicle transport: many cars waiting at the old vehicular ferry pier, and trucks for the temporary one - queuing all along Ferry Street. Also note the long queue of taxis.

Shows the Lyemun Beacon between the ship with the white structure and the white building at the shore..

1954 Central view

Shows both Queen's Piers.

The harbour in front of the older Queen's Pier is not yet reclaimed yet, there will be the Star Ferry Pier (3rd location) in about three year's time.
