Address: 1 Tuen Lee Street, Waldorf Garden, Tuen Mun, New Territories, Hong Kong.  Address and location marker are approximate.

Few information is available about New Town Theatre.  The theatre opened to business in the mid-1980s and was closed some time in the 2000's.  For the purpose of this page, the opening and closing dates are estimated to be 1985 and 2005, respectively.

New Imperial Cinema operated during the period December 1992 - March 2004.  New Imperial - 1 was located on the street level and New Imperial - 2 was located in the basement.

Nam Cheong Theatre / 南昌戲院 [1975-2000]

Seating capacity: 1,462, renovation in 1987 reduced the capacity to 1,000.

Address: 223-237 Nam Cheong Street, Sam Shui Po, Kowloon, Hong Kong.  Currently, a residential building stands between the theatre and Nam Cheong Street, hence the theatre is likely more accessible from the rear street called Wai Chi Lane.  The opening date of the theatre was on October 1, 1975.  It was reported to have closed sometime in late 1999 or early 2000.  For the purpose of this page, the closing date is estimated to be January 2000.

Mongkok Theatre / 旺角戲院 [1931-1949]

Address: 123 Prince Edward Road West, Mong Kok, Kowloon, Hong Kong.  Grand Metro is the current occupant at the site.

Available information shows that Mongkok Theatre opened at an unknown data in late 1930 or early 1931, its operation temporarily suspended during the war, and was closed on May 8, 1949. For the purpose of this page, the opening date is estimated to be January 1931.

MCL Silvercord Cinema / MCL 新港戲院 [1993-2006]

Address:  30 Canton Road, Silvercord Centre, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong.

MCL Silvercord Cinema operated during the period July 17, 1993 - October 8, 2006.  There is a photograph showing the sign of the cinema at the entrance to the building which reads "Silvercord Cinema".  It is not clear whether this was the original name and later renamed MCL Silvercord, or MCL was part of its name throughout the operating period.

Metropole Theatre (Kowloon) / 國寶戲院 [1965-1982]

Address: 4716 Choi Hung Road, San Po Kong, Kowloon, Hong Kong, near an amusement park and across from Wong Tai Sin District Police Headquarters.  While I believe the location marker is accurate, locals could help if it needed improvement.  There is a flicker photo (source below)  showing the amusement park, Choi Hung Road and the nullah. 

Metropole Theatre operated during the period January 31, 1965 - November 1, 1982.

Metro Theatre / 美麗宮戲院 [1963-1974]

Address:  The theatre was located in Shek Kip Mei, a public housing estate in Kowloon.  Several slightly different locations are found in the sources:  Tai Hang Tung Road; "now 仁寶大廈"; 大坑東-窩仔街 intersection; and 九龍仔 石硤尾 大坑東 4390地段.  (No street number is available)  Based on these, Google has confirmed it at the Ample Building, at the southwest corner of the intersection made by Tai Hang Tung Road-Woh Chai Street and Tong Yam Street.

Merryland Theatre / 美都戲院 [1984-2002]

Address: 21 Fung Kam Street, Yuen Long, Hong Kong.  According to one source, one current occupant at the site is a church, which puts it at the Kam Lung Mansion on Fung Kam Street.

Merryland Theatre started operating on July 14, 1984 until its closing sometime in 2002. It was converted into a church which opened to the public on December 24, 2003.  For the purpose of this page, the closing date of the theatre is estimated to be December 2002.
