On 28th November 1939, item 633 in the Gazette announced "Tenders invited for New Teacher's Training College, Bonham Road, Hong Kong" and that "The work consists of the erection of a three storied building in reinforced concrete with basement to central portion, drainage, site work, and caretaker’s quarters."
Originally Edenhall, the old mansion on the site was used as the school building along with one half of Westbourne Villa (No 84 Bonham Road), where Rhine Court is today.
