Redhill & Turtle Cove 1966

Hi I'm new to the site. We lived in Redhill in the mid 60's, and my dad was in the army. I am trying to find out which part of Red Hill we lived in, could anyone help please?

Also looking for people or photos from Redhill and Turtle cove mid 60's. My dad was Karl Barker he was in the Duke of Wellingtons.

Where: That three-storey building in the background looks familiar. I remember seeing it in this circa 1906 photo from chapter two of the latest Gwulo book.

Can you see it towards the right edge of the photo? Here's a close-up.

Removal of graves in unauthorised cemetery adjacent Mount Caroline Cemetery

There are already quite a few posts on Mount Caroline Cemetery, and I contributed to the early discussions, having found myself in the cemetery during my initial search for traces of my grandfather’s house at the top of Broadwood Road.

Does any one know anything about the milestones in 1895 map?

Apart from the two MS5.

BP marker stones

Several readers have reported seeing marker stones with "BP" and a number on them.

We're curious to know what they were used for. One suggestion is that BP stands for Boundary Post, though it isn't clear what boundary they refer to.

For more information about and and photos of a stone, either click its name in the list, or click its marker on the map. Your are welcome to add another stone - just remember to give it the tag BP marker stone so that it shows up on the list and map below.

Coastal searchlights at Lye Mun - additional notes

The history of the coastal searchlights (aka "Defence Electric Lights" or DELs) at Lye Mun can be hard to follow as their names changed and several were rebuilt. These are the various references I've found to them. The sources are shown in italics, mostly references to documents held at the UK's National Archives.

Tunnel between Kowloon and Shatin - original route

Greetings!  The tunnel alignment between Kowloon Tong and north portal - Shatin in the current map appears to show it remains operational for MTR.  There are photos showing it is now used to convey water.  Thank you in advance for clearing up my understanding.  Regards,   Peter

Path between Robinson Road and Conduit Road

I wonder if anyone would remember a walking path between Robinson Road and Conduit Road. From Conduit Road, one would keep walking down this path with concrete steps, all the way to Robinson Road not far from the Catholic schools mentioned so many times by Gwulo authors.
