The photographer was standing on today's Chatham Road looking north near the junction with Observatory Road

The photo postcard looks like it was taken before the construction of the east-west Austin Road. The buildings in the centre on the hill are part of the military barracks on  Gun Club Hill. The buidlings on the left would be where today's Rosary Church and St. Mary's Canossian College are located. See http://gwulo.com/gun-club-hill-barracks
