my dad used to park here on regular treks to swindon's. roof parking was less expensive than the other floors below but on a hot day aiyahhh :) later must have figured a membership to the ymca, with then carpark was better value and closer to the lock road main store which stocked all the booty - late 60s early 70s
Oh the Swindon's at Lock Road was a legend with books stacked from floor to ceiling on shelves and every little corner and space used to the max. Got alot of my casual reading to school textbooks to University books there 70s-90s. There was another decent bookstore within Ocean Terminal 70s-80s, again packed from floor to ceiling with anything and everything. Can't remember the name.

Re: Roof Carpark, Ocean Terminal
Hi there,
You don't have to guess. It is 'the' carpark alright. The Ocean Terminal was inaugurated back in 1966.

Re: Book store in Ocean Terminal
Hi There,
That was also the Swindon's. A much smaller shop with narrow lanes between shelves.

Yes that's it. I thought it was Swindon's. Yes, narrow shelves, shimmying the way through in between the bookcases!
