Based on the decoration of the st, I think this photo was taken in 1887, during Victoria golden Jubilee.

Any chance we can see a larger copy of this photo? I'd like to check the hairstyles - the men don't look to have queues, but it's hard to be sure.

The Criterion Hotel was at 21-23 Pottinger Street at end 1905.

Did not move to Queen's Road opposite Central Market steps until later, by 1911 the signage on Queen's Road read 'Criterion Bar'.
