Is north at the top of this photo? I'm trying to match it up with a map and struggling - not sure if it's because the area has been redeveloped so much since the photo was taken, or I need to turn my map around!

North is to the right(ish). The village is in middle of the shot, a little left of centre & to the right of the series of three ponds. The football pitch of Lo Wu Camp is the rectangle to the left & below centre. A bit of the camp can be seen in the lower left corner.
Did I never answer the question.. many apologies. Yes, the old football pitch is now the saddle club and the other open area below it in the picture (triangular)is now a paddock and carpark area.

Hi Phil,

Thanks, got my bearings now.
Thanks, got my bearings now. I can see that rectangle for the football pitch marked on the 1952 map, below the Yuen of the caption Ho Sheung Heung Tsung Yuen: https://gwulo.com/map-of-places#16/22.5153/114.1083/Map_by_ESRI-1952_All...
Looks like it's the site of the Lo Wu Saddle Club today.
Whoops!
