By 1981 rickshaws had already largely disappeared as a means of transport.  The slide is now the right way round. Thanks Moddsey.  WOW! It's changed a bit!

The photo needs to be horizontally flipped. I think you are in Kowloon on Peking Road looking towards Canton Road as viewed here

Thanks Moddsey.  Scanning slides does sometimes lead to that sort of error - especially if one is not familiar with places!  I'll flip it straight away. Andrew

Hi Andrew, the text, eg the yellow Osaka sign, is back-to-front when I look at this.

I have checked on a much larger image on my computer and David is right, so I'm flipping it back - coud get quite dizzy!

that makes more sense. The sign to Restaurant Osaka is pointing up Ashley Road on the opposite side of the road. The restaurant is still there on the corner of Ashley and IChang St.

Actually, the Osaka restaurant sign put me onto the location of the photo!
