It was still hot in early November and the shop keeper hosed his snakes down to keep them cool.

The distinctive yellow and black striped snakes are probably Beauty Snakes, a type of Rat Snake, imported into Hong Kong as they are edible. Some of them escaped from captivity to establish populations in the wild, see www.gwulo.com/atom/16912.
