Hi there,

I believe the shop shown in the photo was along Morrision Hill Road, just before the big tree  (which is still there). .  There used to be two such shops on ground floor there.  On the other hand, there were a stone mason shop just behind the tree back then.

Those wrapped up pieces (by oil paper) are unassembled coffins.  Only premium coffins are treated like that.  The rich and wealthywould usually reserve their own pieces way ahead.  Most prestegious wood pieces are lumber from Ding Chau (汀州).

Hi T

You are probably correct.  I recall walking in that area and most of the photographs around that one in my 1987 folder would have been taken at that time.  The Wan Chai  Dai Pai Dong food stall photograph was taken close to the small Hong  Kong Veterans' hut beneath, I believe, the Moreton Terrace flyover near the Western end of the Causeway Bay road.  On the same walk I had visited the Happy Valley cemeteries where I took the photograph of the Memorial stone. Now, I wish that on all my times in Hong Kong I had carefully written down the locations of my photographs but, at the time, it didn't seem important.  Keep up your excellent detective work and best wishes, Andrew
