My hunch is that this was a christening photo, so since my mother was born on 10th October 1912, it is possible it could have been taken in December 1912, or possibly early 1913. I would assume it was taken at Richard Howard Heard's house in Shanghai.
William Logan Gerrard was General Manager of the Astor House Hotel from around 1910 to 1915.
Augustine John Purcell Heard, known as Johnny, was a noted amateur jockey in Shanghai and rode for Jardine's. He was one of three Shanghai based jockeys who were very much revered by the Hong Kong racing fraternity, which I think is mentioned in a history of the Hong Kong Jockey Club and they would come to Hong Kong periodically to race here, but Johnny never lived in Hong Kong.
Mary and Richard Heard were the parents of Gertrude, Theresa, Johnny and Emily.
