Farewell dinner of Mr. Hamel on 17 March 1921, most likely with colleagues and friends from the Netherlands. This as my grandfather Pieter Marks (1893-1981) was one of the attendees. He's the young man sitting on the right on the ground before the table. Not sure who Mr. Hamel was. One G.S.D. Hamel was consul-general for the Netherlands in Hong Kong at that time but my grandfather was employed by the Dutch India Commercial Bank (Dutch East Indies Commercial Bank, the 'Nederlandsch-Indische Handelsbank'). G.S.D. Hamel was consul-general from 1916 through 1920 when he left on grand leave. Some information about G.S.D. Hamel is available here.
