In fact this was the merchant ship TJIBANTJET of Royal Interocean Lines which stranded on 22nd September 1957. RIL was the trade name of the Dutch company called Koninklijke Java-China Paketvaart Lijnen, which headoffice was based on Java Road North Point.  Hence many taxidrivers knew the company as Java Kongsi.

It was in Junk Bay below Devil's Peak. On 5th June 1958 she was refloated and towed to the Hong Kong & Whampoa Dock Co. In May 1959 she resumed service and sailed till 1972 under her original name.  She was reflagged and renamed MERCURY RIVER until April 1974, when she was broken up in Kaohsiung.
