Hi There,

This has to be somewhere along the Tramways as there are overhead power lines.  May take a while to identify the buildings, then the location.

Hi tngan

Thank you for your comment. Based on it, I feel that I have identify the location.

Hi Alain,

I am still scratching my head for this. Using the name of the restaurant 新華園燒臘店 I found a few entreis that had closed but they were in North Point.  However either these two did not match the photo as they were not on a street corner.

In the 1970's I was at School in Wanchai.  I could not recall anything this in the area. I believe it was not Wanchai.  It was somewhere along the Tramways alright, just not sure exactly where.

Hi tngan,

If you were at scholl there, you certainly know the area very well.

Thus I will try again to find were the photo was taken...

Hi Alain,

My only advantage is that I am a local and grew up and worked in the Causeway Bay\Wanchai area.  If there had been one 新華園燒臘飯店 on a street corner along the Tramway in Causeway Bay and Wanchai I should have remembered it.

I suspect it is likely further east, just uncertain exactly where.

I thgan

I looked again for the location of this photo.

As you mentionned North Point, I went there using Street View.

May be I found the place.

It should be at the crossing between King's Rd and Shu Kuk Rd. The lower building was changed into a higher one, but the building at the left of my photo seems to be the ping building with a "superior choise restaurant" on the Street View photos from 2009. The other building on the left can also be found on Street View. The building on the right with the rounded corner also seems to fit with the present one....

Agree.  This photo should be taken from outside the Sunbeam Theatre towards the current North Point MTR exit B1/2.

The rightmost building is the Maylun Apartments which is still here.  The lower buildings should be demolished for the construction of MTR and then the current Roca Centre.  The buidlings behind are the Fairview Court and two blocks of the King's Tower which are all built in the mid-70's.
