Hi There,

The photo showed the 金馬  (Golden Horse) & 碧雞 (Jade Chicken) Pai Lau, which was destroyed in the Cultural Revolution.  The location was in theart of Kwun Ming City.  The current location is called 金馬碧雞坊, a pedestrain district and tourist attraction.  Accorxding to Wiki the Pai Laus showed in the photo was a rebuilt in 1884.  The originals were built further back in the Ming Dynastry under Xuande (宣德帝) Emperor, who reigned from 1425 to 1435.  The originals were destroyed 1857.

The current version was built around 1998-1999.

Thank you so much tngan for providing context to this photo. I have virtually no idea of Kunming at that time. Perhaps I need to do some research online to see if I can add some context to the other few photos of Kunming that I have uploaded here.

Hi There,

Don't mention it.  These two photos has clear clues on them.  I was just using Google to look up text string like 昆明 +塔  or 昆明 +金馬 for the look-ups.  The rest was just copy and paste or some simple preci\translation.
