Hong Kong 1940s.jpg

During Mao Tse Tung's rise to power in the late Forties, my mum was told by her mother to leave China. So she joined the mass exodus of refugees fleeing to Hong Kong in search of freedom from Communism and a better life. Mum initially went to live with an auntie in Macau but that didn't work out, so in the early Fifties she went to live with relatives in Mong Kok. I don't know where this picture was taken.
