Nomenclature of Taipo
The Chinese translation of Taipo should be 大埔. Yet well-known Hong Kong historian and essayist Yeh Lingfeng mentioned in his book that the area around Tai Po was a habitat of wild animal, which people have to "Big-Step" (大步 Homophonic as Taipo) to escape from the attack from wild animals.
