The name of a pawn shop[the left one] and a sauce shop[the right one].

Pawn shop:同豐大押

Beancurd shop: 同益號腐乳

同豐大押 is still there at the Tonnoochy-Hennessey junction but 同益號腐乳 is no more. Wonder how many people are still eating  fermented bean curd or 腐乳..

Greetings to All.  We can still buy fermented bean curd  腐乳 here in Canada.  I think the buyers are mostly seniors like me and recent immigrants.  In those my HK good old days, it cost little and I liked it mixed with cooked rice, with some hot peppers.  Regards,  Peter

In the good old days, people eat 1 or 2 fbc cubes with a bowl of plain rice, quite often as the sole source of extraneous flavor.

Nowadays they are frequently used as flavoring ingredients in cooking, such as red fbc for marinating BBQ meats, red fbc sauce for crispy skin chicken, stew of fbc with pieces of duck, ginger & scallions, and goat meat or mutton stew.
