The Pedlar and the Doctor (马坤和中山) is a Hong Kong and Katoomba generated biopic pitch funded by Michael Sofaer, designed by Paul Zimmerman(司馬文), and credited to Paolo Frere (aka Michael Alderton; 區大同). It is based on the 1995 novelography: Great Superintendent and the Red Cudgel (区大同. 作者 -大總理與紅棍者), which deals with the wildly improbable early life of Major General Morris Abraham “Two Gun” Cohen (1889-1970): the London-born Jewish pauper boy who rose up out of the teeming slums of East London to become personal bodyguard and revolutionary comrade to the great Chinese leader Doctor Sun Yat-sen, and a frontline general in his Revolutionary Army.
