A comparison of wooden-wheeled richshas used in Hong Kong until about the 1960's with the modern version, when ricksh owners converted their vehicles to use bicycle-type wheels with steel spokes and a metal rim. Both types of wheel had a solid rubber tyre. The wooden-heels had 16 spokes while the steel wheels had 40 tensioned wire spokes.  The right-hand photo is an enlarged extract from one of  Chris Addison's photographs. The left-hand photo is 'Pintinterest ' post from the internet.
