The only remaining part of Murray Barracks, namely the former Officers' Mess [ Murray House] remained isolated at the junction of Queens Road and the foot of Garden Road. Rather than being demolished, as I saw being done to the old Main Post Office, the building was carefully dismantled and re-erected at the handsome Stanley Promenade where it houses shops, at least one restaurant and a museum.
Amending the position of the former Officers' Mess, it stood isolated between the bottom of Garden Road and Cotton Tree Drive until dismantled stone by stone, re-erected at Stanley Promenade.
