In the late 60s and 70s Nevasa and her sister ship HMTS Uganda were used for educational tours for UK schoolkids. In 1969 I travelled with some of my school (from Reigate in Surrey) around the Western Med. In 1970 I did the same, around the Baltic. Both times on the Uganda. For a boy in his mid teens these tours were great adventures and the ships had pretty good facilities--dorms, classrooms, lecturehalls, dining areas and sports areas. I believe both ships (certainly the Uganda) went to the Falklands in 1982 as hospital ships.
