Lane Crawford outing
Isn't it strange, in this day and age, to think of an employees "outing" to Shau Kei Wan!
Incidentally, I recently wrote a piece elsewhere on this site about a colleague of Cecil "Sammy" Carr, Roland Stride. The information came from Roland's son, Roger, who visited HK a couple of months ago with his wife from Australia. Sammy Carr was Roger's godfather.
Roger had never seen the bungalow ("A") on the St. Stephen's College campus in Stanley where his father lived throughout internment. This bldg now houses the Heritage Gallery there and I was able to take him round. Roger in turn presented me with some interesting documentation relating to his father's pre-WW2 employment with Lane, Crawford in HK & I have passed copies to Tony Banham and Geoff Emerson.
Finally, does anybody know if a history of the Lane, Crawford, Ltd exists, official or otherwise?

No sign of the tram tracks. The sharp bend should give a clue.
