The Repulse Bay Hotel closed its doors in 1982. Here is the last menu the hotel used before re-opening. There was a grand gala evening, a fantastic occasion as only the Peninsula Group could arrange.
The hotel was taken down stone by stone and rebuilt with exactly the same stones.(Full size "philk")

Yes, if you look at the Repulse Bay Hotel thread you'll notice a comment from Tony Lam confirming the scale was the same as the original. But this is the first time I've heard about the same stones being used. Interesting information. Many thanks.

The stones were stored in a garage just up Repulse Bay Road and they were all numbered so they could be placed back in the same place like a big jigsaw puzzle. Amazing really.
