Here's an interesting piece of local history, linked to two of Hong Kong's old Club buildings.
After giving a talk at the Hong Kong Club recently, John asked if I knew of their "Club Germania Scoreboard". I didn't, so he took me down to the bowling alley in the basement of the Club's building to take a look.
The board records the results of competitions between the Hong Kong Club and the old Club Germania. As far as I know it's the only original item in Hong Kong that shows the Club Germania name. The board was made before WW1, and originally hung in the previous generation of the Hong Kong Club building. There's very little else from the old Hong Kong Club building that survived WW2, which adds to its value.

Re: Hong Kong Club vs Club Germania
For some years there has been an annual bowling match between teams from the Hong Kong Club and Club Germania. The Hong Kong Club having won the old shield outright - a new one has been put up, each club paying half the cost. The cost is from five to six hundred dollars The next match will be held on 17 and 19 December. HK Daily Press 30 November 1904 refers.
