The road that goes uphill is MacDonnell Road after the steep turn from Kennedy Road. Given the number of buildings that are seen, I guess the photo is from around 1900-1910.  Land sales on Macdonnell Road began from 1896.

I tried to identify some of the houses and found out that this image already exists:

In this one the date is set much later. If we are sure the date is 1900-1910, Annelise's image should be amended and my entry deleted afterwards.
