Can someone tell me what the markings S J C means on that stone from 1886. Thanks. I saw that marker on garden road.

That is the boundary stone\marker stone of the St. John's Cathedral. That's one of the earliest land lots granted in town.

Just have another question regarding the year 1886. St. Johns Cathedral was built in 1849. Why the year 1886 ? Looking forward to any replies. Thank you very much

Hi There,
I really have no idea. Maybe like the Victoria City Boundary Stones around. They had 1903 engrated onto thembut the city was escabblished much earlier. Or maybe the year engraved denotes the year the stones were laid?
