Photograph reproduced from January 1906 edition of "The Far Eastern Review" showing the Ground Floor interior ( the "marble hall") of the recently completed new residence of Sir Paul Chater. This building subsequently became known as "Marble Hall" on account of its large and elaborate marble colonnaded entrance hall seen in this photo . Later the building was named "Admiralty House" when the Royal Navy took it over as the residence of the Naval Commander-in-Chief of the China Squadron.
