I noticed that these photos and others are connected to TaiLam Camp on the Castle Peak Road 1948/49 and also further in the New Territories?. Was the unit 54 Fld Sqn RE?.

Further to this, I know that 54 Sqn were up at Sek Kong camp around 1949 through to 1952, and in that period they had the job of laying down RouteTWSK. Are all of the photos related to 54 Field Squadron RE?.

I was with 56 Fld Sqn at Gordon Camp (formerly Perowne Barracks) from early 1956 until the 24 Fld Engr Rgt left Hong Kong for Blighty, this was in July 1958. Just before the regiment moved I moved to work in RHQ Office. When the regiment finally moved I transferred to 54 Ind Fld Sqn at Tai Lam  Camp/.

I have been looking at the history of the regiment and the squadrons (not an easy task) whilst it was in Hong Kong and would like to know if I may copy the photos from the period shown if they all relate to 54 Field Squadron Royal Engineers.

My REgards Bill

Hi, there were also some comments on the main article ( https://gwulo.com/node/52740 )from someone more knowledgeable than I, who confirms my grandfather was likely with 54 battery, 25 field regiment RA - whether they were stationed with 54 RE, I couldn't say, but by all means copy the photos if there are of interest to you!
