In this wedding photo dated May 29, 1929, five of the Reed brothers are included.  They are in the fourth row, partially hidden, from left: Francis, Arthur, Edgar and Stephen. Bobby is behind the lady with the hat to the right of the photo. Willie and Reggie Reed are not in this photo.  The Reed and Murray families were related by way of Lucretia Mary Reed, sister of Amaro John Reed. Lucretia married Patrick Henry Murray in 1887 and they had five daughters and one son.  Evelyn was one of their daughters. Amaro John married Maria Rita da Silva in 1902 and they had seven sons.

The wedding was on 11 May 1929 at the Rosary Church in Kowloon. Notes:

  • Bride given away by her uncle, Mr A J Reed
  • Bridesmaids were Misses Gladys, Helen, and Florence Grimmit, and the matron of honour was Mrs A W Grimmitt
  • Best man was Mr W H Norman
  • Reception at 4 Cambay Buildings, Kowloon

That's wonderful that you found the actual notice in the newspaper and the correct date of the wedding.  I don't know how I got the date as May 29!  It was also interesting to me that my grandfather, Amaro John Reed, gave the bride away.  I wonder if the Cambay Buildings housed a club or reception center?  Thanks for this information and update, David.

Thanks David, I submitted the photo and date. May 29, 1929 was on the back of the photo. It was in different ink than other script. Perhape the 29th was when they received the photo from the processor.
