Preserved Olives
Thank you simtang for the photos. In the 1950s, there was a man selling small packages of preserved olives in my neighbourhood. He walked along the street and made his presence known by blowing a small instrument that sounded like a mini trumpet. We would get his attention, then threw out 10 cents towards him. He would "throw up" his package into your balcony. For most shophouses, he had a large target to aim at. When he missed, he threw another one. Early version of carrier delivery! Regards, Peter
