This is the memorial plaque attached to the outside of "The Great Hill" residential development on Tung Lo Wan Rd in Tai Wai. The inscription reads:
The Old Shatin Police Station on Tung Lo Wan Road was completed in 1950. It had identical plans with the police stations in Sai Kung, Castle Peak and Tsuen Wan.
The whole site comprised several structures, including a 2-storey U-shaped main building block (Block A), a rectangular shaped building of machine room with water tank tower (Block B), 2 small store-room buildings (Blocks C & D), an annex building (Block E) at the north-west side of the main building block and a small guard house (Block F) located at the entrance of the site. The Old Shatin Police Station was a typical example of the architectural style and layout of the police station in the early post-war period.
In 1979, the operation of Old Shatin Police Station was moved to a new police station in Wo Che.
The Old Shatin Police Station was demolished in 2004 for redevelopment of a residential project.
