According to my wife who was born in Fanling this scene is in Shueng Shui, both these restaurants existed up until Covid times and may well still be in business. The car is absolutely not from the 1950's more like from the late 60's early 70's, possibly a Toyota Crown.

This photo from Flickr is from an album named: Ist North Staffords Regt Band HONG KONG 1954-56. There are two more photos of this location.

Personally, I can't tell if this is correct or not.

Having done a quick search, the Better 'Ole was originally at Fanling Station, but closed in 2007 and the Sheung Shui branch remained, see this article from Zolima City Mag.

I guess my wife only remembers the Sheung Shui outlet.

This is a photo dated around 1980-82, Fanling Station.

I am living in Fanling since I born until now. I live on the other side of rail. The photo is Better Ole Restaurant, but please take closer look to Chinese "適雅大 ? 家" (適雅大酒家) The story is Better Ole was a England pub (now still doing buiness in Sheung Shui, your wife is correct). Around 80-82, I couldn't remember exact year, 適雅餐廳 changed to a Chinese restaurant, providing Dim Sum and Chinese foot. No more western disks. Historical photos of 適雅餐廳 are still displayed in Sheung Shui shop today. Pay a visit and order a drink.

Thank you both for clarification. In the album on Flickr, almost all photos are b/w, only a few in colour. Among these is one of Fleet House on Gloucester Road which opened in 1985. So probably the Better 'Ole photos were taken during a revisit in the 1980s.

I'll change the date to 1980.
