Tennis

I saw some other photos of tennis courts and was wondering if anyone can identify this location. I'm not possitive that it's Hong Kong, because the family had intersts in Malaya and also moved to Shanghai around 1919. The thatched buildings may give a clue

The German Tennis Club - Deutscher Tennis Klub north to the junction Jordan Road - Gascoigne Road, Kowloon was established in 1927. There were two tennis courts an a small club house. In 1927 approximately 120 Germans lived in Hong Kong. Their number increased to 180 in 1935 and due to the sino-japanese war to 350/400 in 1939. In 1931 another club was established on the 4th floor of the Butterfield & Swire building in Central, 2 Connaught Road.

Tennis in Hong Kong

Tennis in HK seems to have been popular. This picture was taken at either The Towers on Broadwood Road, which I think had two courts, or perhaps more likely 13 Broadwood Road which was the home of my great uncle Charles pictured here second from left, and his wife Ethel also pictured here. The boy in the middle is Reginald Warren and I think the year would have been about 1920. I cannot identify the two men.
