At the start of the war he sent his Australian born wife Grace  and his two Hong Kong born sons to Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. About 1970, he returned to Victoria, Australia with his second wife Ellen Roskilly, British born Nurse. They set up house in a  wealthy area of Camberwell, but did not remain.
