2019 Kai Tak Airport Sub-Fire Station

After completion of the Kai Tak runway extension in 1974, the Airport Sub-Fire Station (checked building) situated at the southeast end of the runway came into operational use. The Station had its own dedicated fireboat or rescue catamaran.

More than 20 years on since the closure of Kai Tak, runway markings at the southeast end are yet to be obliterated. The area is overgrown with long grass and trees. The Kai Tak Cruise Terminal is on the left. 

2019 Kai Tak Runway End Park

The southeast end of the former reclaimed runway has been turned into a park with historical information and old photos of Kai Tak. A Government Flying Service Jetstream 41, retired from operational service is on static display. A nice place for family walks, catching the sun and camping.

Former Kai Tak Airport. To the left of the nullah were the freight and maintenance aprons and hangars. To the right was the Passenger Terminal Building and main apron.
