This 'Bus' with the signboard RAF Homantin on the bumper highlights yet another obscure RAF establishment in Hong Kong. I think this location was a mansion block on the middle slope of Homantin Hill Road that when I lived above it in the 1970s housed RAF families. But what was its purpose at the time this picture was taken that required a dedicated bus service? IDJ

RAF HO MAN TIN
I believe that the site of HK govt. single expatriate service flats near the top of Homantin Hill Road (demolished 1990s) was previously occupied by RAF quarters. Nancy Kwan, whose father was reportedly employed by British intelligence, lived nearby, by the way.
The truck, presumably used to transport RAF personnel to and from Kai Tak, looks later than 1940 to me.
I can remember there were still some senior military quarters near the service flats in the 1970s.
