I believe this is Po Lin monastery. Helen Booth supplied an almost exact shot of this for our Gweilo project.

Thanks Phil, as you say, the photos are almost the same. Title & Places updated.

Seems that a hike up to the monastery was a regular forces outing in the 50s & 60s.
