My Pleasure, David. Thanks to you and your friends and colleagues for such great site helping to keep alive HK's heritage in digital form.

I will likely have some more modest contributions as I ferret into my old prints and negs.

The house on the right is my beloved old home - 86 Peak Road.  It stood at the beginning of Gough Hill Road and behind it was the Peak Police Station.  My old childhood friend, Janey Watson, lived on the other side at No.1 Gough Hill Road. Happy, happy memories!

Was 86 Peak Road the house named Cheltondale? We've got a page for it at: http://gwulo.com/node/5347, and photos at: http://gwulo.com/node/5347/photos

We lived there from about 1953 to 1968 and it did not have a name.  First of all, it 286 Peak Road and then 86.  What about the large box-like house behind it?  I think it was lived in by the head of the Hong Kong electric company but I m not sure.  Thanks so much for all the links - we were directly above Stewart Terrace and you can see the house very well on all the old photos.

Hello David and Adrienne,

I was just looking at a map of the Peak Area that I have, I think from 1924. Annotated on it is that house No. 286 is Cheltondale. Since Adrienne recalls her street address at the house was 286 Peak Road (though subsequently just 86) in the 1953 thru 1968 period, it would seem that the house she lived in was indeed Cheltondale.

Thanks Graham.  It is so interesting to learn more about my old home.  I really loved that house - it broke my heart to have to leave it and Hong Kong.
