Hi Keith, I'd be interested if you can tell us a little more about the people in the photo - eg When did they live here, what were there names, and what were they doing in Hong Kong?

Thanks & regards, David

Hi David,

My grandfather, Archibald Hill Ferguson, was the manager of the Chartered Bank. He and his family lived at Charter House  from about 1920 until 1932 when he became chief manager of the bank in London. The photo shows him, my grandmother Helen McEwan Ferguson (an American from Seattle) my aunt Eleanor (the elder child) and my mother Marjorie.

I also have some internal photos of the house which I can post if you think they would be of any interest.

Best regards,

Keith

Hi Keith,

Yes please, any photos, memories or other information about life in Hong Kong at that time will be very welcome.

I've made a separate page for Archibald Hill Ferguson. It shows him listed in the Jurors Lists for 1912, so he spent a good chunk of his life in Hong Kong.

Regards, David

Hi David,

He was in Asia for most of his banking career, the bulk of which was in Hong Kong. I'm a bit vague on precise dates as he died long before I was born but I'll do some research. I have added his birth and death dates on the AHF page.
