Considering the light feature was placed on a hill, this was probably a hazard beacon emitting a red omnidirectional light denoting the presence of terrain near the flight path of approaching aircraft.

This looks like the one located on top of a small hill near Homantin?

Probably is the one. Although located near Ho Man Tin, it was called the Hung Hom Hazard Beacon!
