Hi there,

I have a faint impression that the photo looked like Queen's Road Central somewhere.  Could you blow up the photo so we could see the neon signs more clearly??

Best Regards,

T

Its  Kowloon...near the back of the Peninsular Hotel.Middle Rd or Hankow rd?

Regards mike

Hi there,

That was a three lane street, it wouldn't be a back street in Tsim Sha Tsui.  I have to admit it is only a hunch.  I could be wrong.  But that building on the right hand side looked familiar.

After looking up some older photos available online, I guess I got a partial match.  Does that building at the back in the older photo look familiar?

Best Regards,

T

I agree with Thomas, it looks like Edinburgh House on the right. Here's a similar photo for comparison:

PS Lots of interesting photos - thanks very much for uploading them.

If I am not mistaken, this would have been taken at the junction of Queen's Road and Ice House Street.  The first road on the left is Duddell Street.  On the right in the foreground is the present Landmark/York House.  The traffic arrangement is pretty much similar to that today with the right lane having to turn right onto Peddar Street.

The taller building in white on the right side of Queen's Road should be Central Building, which still stands today but was recladded probably in the 80s.
