Hi there,
I believe this photo is earlier than 1963 as The Mandarin Hotel, as shown, was still under construction. This being 2013 is their 50th Anniversary. Need a bit more research using the buildings around for a closer guess.

If it is any earlier than 1963 then it can only be 1962, right? The new City Hall was built in 1962 no?

Hi there,
The City Hall was built earlier than 1962. It was inaugurated in 1962 though. Still need more clues to pin point the time frame.
The observation of this photo is that:
1. Southerland House is not yet there yet. That would mean the HK Club Annex still exist?
2. Mercury House is there already;
3. No trace of the Harcourt Road flyover in the photo. Does anybody know when was the flyover built?
