Dragon Villa - c1954 (Previously titled 'Unknown House on the Beach')

Took this on an outing in 1953 or '54. Our beach visits were usually to Repulse Bay or  Clearwater Bay to what I think we called Silverstrand so it may be near to either of those .  Wherever, a superb location, but is it still there - and what's it like now, I wonder ?

P.S Now positively ID'd as Dragon Villa - thanks everybody.

Harry.

Looks like the house called DRAGON VILLA on the small headland at Tsing Lung Tau on the old Castle Peak Road near the pier where the ferry went over to Mau Wan Island. Its probably still there. See new 1980s image just posted

Is it the site marked "Dragon Villa" on the present-day maps?

I believe it is. The area is now very much built up. The house is in noisy location with heavy road and sea traffic passing both sides of it now. It used to be a quiet place.

Hi there,

Apparently so.  In the map you should still be able to see a small sectuion of  what's left of the original Castle Peak Road east of the round about, before the bay was reclaimed.

Hello guys. I accidentally find this website on Google. I live in a estate just behind this Dragon Villa, since I was born in 1990s. It is still here but I am not sure about the building was being rebuilt or not. Indeed the scene or road here in Tsing Lung Tau doesn't change a lot, except much more modenized, and most of the beach is gone because of widened road :(. Is it possible that I can upload a photo here to show you how it is now?

Yes please, it'll be good to see what it looks like today. Here's how to upload a photo: http://gwulo.com/node/2076
