Dear Liz, Thank you so much for posting several interesting photos from the 1923 typhoon, many of which I have not seen before (maybe you are aware, I am the Observatory's director and also a collector of historical weather photos). Incidentally I have also posted two similar photos of tram damages which are believed to be caused by the 1923 typhoon (http://gwulo.com/node/7290). However as you could see from the discussions there (which include the same photo you post here), there are some uncertainties on the date of the event, considering various conflicting sources of information. It would greatly help if you have some independent information on the date of this tram damage photo (e.g. from explicit description on photo or album). Any feedback will be greatly appreciated! The images are part of collection which are dated 1923.  The date range for the collection as a whole is 1922 to 1941 and it contains several images that I believe have not been seen in public before. I shall post a few here but mainly will be loading on to my website over the coming months.

Very much appreciated Liz!  Look forward to seeing the other 1923 typhoon photos, especially the Happy Valley racecourse under water.

David and moddsey - maybe we could now consider the date and cause of the tram damages resolved?  And if so, maybe the date of Wanchai reclamation (at least the part off Johnston Road) could also be pushed forward to after August 1923?

My photo is the same as Liz and is dated as 1923. I have made comments here
