I'd like to create a place for the building where the American Express office was located.

Thanks, MrB

From a SCMP advert, in June 1939 American Express was at 4 Des Voeux Road Central. Its very likely to be the same address in 1941.

Hi there,

The Standard Chartered Bank is on #4-4A Des Voeux Road, Central nowadays.  It was there in the 1960's, probably earlier.  At least we have some pointers now.

Best Regards,

T

IDJ & T, thanks for the pointers. Based on that info I found this photo (via Flickr, but originally HKPL) confirming the location. It shows the old Chartered Bank building with the same alternating smooth / rough stonework we see in the Forman photo.

Please amend the place name to Former American Express Company Office as shown in http://gwulo.com/node/13520

It would appear that the local office of the Chartered Bank of India, Australia and China and the American Express Office may have shared the same building. The former was located at 3 Queen's Road Central while the latter was located at 4 Des Voeux Road Central.
