photo possibly taken between 1964 and 1968
The pier down the street is for ferry to Jordan Road at the intersection with Stewart Road. The guy talking to another guy on motorcycle is the grandpa of the person who posted this photo. Grandpa is the owner of the Wayston garage. Unfortunately the pier for ferries to Hunghom and Kowloon City at the intersection with Tonnochy Road is out of the picture. One can also see the sign of school "中正中學" at the Tonnochy road corner.
The caption at Frickr is not correct. It says it was taken in the 50s. The school moved there in 1964 and the piers on Gloucester road were demolished around 1968 as that part of the harbour was reclaimed and a new pier opened in 1968. So the photo should be taken sometime between 1964 and 1968.

year of the photo
One commenter of uwants pinpoints the year of the photo at 1965. Besides the reason I stated above regarding that high school. The commenter further argues the hotel 華國酒店 down the road next to the police station was under construction in 1965. It makes sense to me.

Another thing I noticed is that in the photo, there was no traffic light at the Tonnochy-Gloucester junction west of the Gilman Motors. In another photo posted here, there was one around there though there is no time stamp for that photo. It probably was before the construction of the Tonnochy pedestrian bridge in 1970. So the photo should be dated between 1965 and 1970.
1972
Two pictures of that part of Gloucestor road in 1972. It was after the reclamation was complete and the old piers demolished and a new pier going to Jordan road and Hunghom was completed. The Gloucestor road was widened and a pedestrian bridge built across the widened Gloucestor road at the Tonnochy junction. It was opened to traffic in August 1970 .

The rest were just some ancient residential buildings. The one at Tonnochy junction was partially converted into a middle school in 1964 as mentioned above.
